• Read the NCHSAA Handbook and thoroughly familiarize yourself with all rules and regulations
• Have a major theme(s) to highlight athletics during the year. Example: Women in sports issues – Focus on the challenge that are unique to women athletics.
• Coaches meetings over pizza on non-practice days to discuss issues
• My first year I have been an athletic manager, not administrator. In the future, I will learn how to delegate work, and learn how to “work smarter” instead of just “working harder.”
• Organizational/time management skills are a necessity – develop your own effective way (Use of technolgy)
• Parent/coach communication guide (handbook) • Email staff about weekly activities and upcoming events
• Get involved with the NCADA, NFHS and NIAAA • On some days, just walk away – you will never get it all done
