Questions routinely asked in the NCHSAA Office. The responses are from Que Tucker, Deputy Executive Director on 3/19/07.

·Can more than one skill development session be held on the same day in the same sport?

NO

·If I schedule and Endowment game prior to the official date of the 1st contest, do I have to give up one of my scrimmages?

NO

·Can JV teams play an endowment game?

NO

·Can JV teams scrimmage?

IN CONJUNCTION WITH THE VARSITY SCRIMMAGE AT THE SAME SITE, SAME DATE

·In a varsity football scrimmage, can you have 11 defensive players on one end of the field, while 11 offensive players are scrimmaging on the other end?

YES, Our rule deals with the number of hours that a team can practice; not how they organize the scrimmage.

·Is there a set time limit for scrimmages in any sport?

NO. FOOTBALL HAS A TOTAL OF 7 HOURS. WHEN CONSIDERING OFFICIALS, THERE IS A $25 FEE PER HOUR PER COURT, FIELD, ETC.

·If our varsity football team has an endowment game scheduled prior to the official date for the 1st contest, can the JV team play a regular season game on the Thursday before the varsity endowment game?

NO


·If a varsity football game is postponed on Friday and played on Monday of the next week, can JV players that played in the JV game on Thursday play in the rescheduled game?

NOW WITH THE 8 QUARTER RULE, THIS IS NOT A VALID QUESTION

·In the playoffs, is it the responsibility of the host school, or the NCHSAA, to secure the officials?

IN FOOTBALL AND BASKETBALL, THE NCHSAA WILL ASSIGN THROUGHOUT. IN OTHERS, THE HOST SCHOOL WILL SECURE THE OFFICIALS UNLESS OTHERWISE NOTED IN THE HANDBOOK

·I am the coach at an NCHSAA member school, and also a select soccer coach, AAU basketball coach, and Fall baseball coach, are there any restrictions with my working with my high school team members outside the high school season?


YES. RESTRICTED BY THE NUMBERS AS PRINTED IN THE NCHSAA HANDBOOK. DEAD PERIODS ALSO HAVE LIMITATIONS


·Can foreign exchange student participate in High school athletics?

YES. IF THEY ARE PART OF A LEGITIMATE FOREIGN EXCHANGE PROGRAM.


·If an NCHSAA member school plays a team from out of state, does the game have to be sanctioned?

NOT IF JUST A SINGLE TEAM INVOLVED. NCHSAA MEMBER SCHOOLS CAN SCHEDULE BORDER STATE SCHOOLS WITHOUT THE GAME BEIGN SANCTIONED. ANY TIME MULTIPLE TEAMS ARE INVOLVED SANCTIONING IS REQUIRED.


·A student moves into our district from out of state, and meets all the NCHSAA eligibility requirements from the previous semester, but does not meet local promotion standards. Would that student be eligible to participate?

NO

·Is there a limit on the number and length of workouts during the summer months?

NO

·Is there a limit to the number of mens and womens lacrosse games that can be played in a week?
