Jerry McGee Adds Another Award to the List
Jerry McGee, executive director of the North Carolina Athletic Directors Association (NCADA), will be inducted into the National Council of Secondary School Athletic Directors (NCSSAD) Presidential Hall of Fame Class of 2007.
The induction ceremony will take place on March 14, 2007 in Baltimore, Maryland in conjunction with the American Alliance of Health, Physical Education, and Recreation National Conference.
McGee has been involved with athletics as a successful coach, educator and administrator. He has been North Carolina's state liaison to the National Interscholastic Athletic Administrators Association (NIAAA) since 1991, and he is chairman of the NIAAA State Executive Directors Council. Since 1995, he has been a member of the NIAAA Emergency Network, and he was a member of the NIAAA Certification Committee from 1995 to 2000. He helped organize the first Executive Directors Summit in 2003 and plays a prominent role in the North Carolina High School Athletic Association (NCHSAA), serving on its board of directors since 1991. He also serves on the association's Award Committee and Hall of Fame Selection Committee, and he had terms on the NCHSAA Realignment Committee and the NCHSAA Sportsmanship Committee.
Among his many recognitions, McGee received the NIAAA Thomas E. Frederick Award of Excellence in 2003, the NIAAA State Award of Merit in 1996 and the NIAAA Distinguished Service Award in 1998. He also received an NFHS Citation in 1997. In 1998, McGee was inducted into the NCADA Hall of Fame and the NCHSAA inducted him into its hall of fame a year later.
