Bobby Hill - NCAAE AD of the Year
Bobby Hill
NCAAE High School Athletic Director of the Year
Bobby Hill has been an educator and coach for the Durham County Public School System since 1992. During that time, he has served in coaching roles for volleyball, track, basketball, wrestling and/or football.
Since 2001, Bobby has been committed to Hillside High School as the director of athletics. His main focus at Hillside is to build programs that provide structure for inner city students that typically do not have many opportunities to succeed. He recently installed 4 new JV programs that compliment already established teams, thus allowing for more student participation. As athletic director, he monitored Hillsides 2010 State Football Championship.
Using strong fiscal planning skills, he has developed an athletic program that manages in excess of $100,000 a year. Through his leadership, he has helped a financially deficient athletic department grow into a dynamic viable program. He created a family pass plan that helps to generate revenue for a once struggling athletic program.
Bobby is committed to developing young coaches into strong, caring mentors who foster positive relationships with their student-athletes. Bobby holds special meetings with his coaching staff to ensure they understand their roles as leaders and help them to create techniques that lead to solid sports programs that promote sportsmanship.
Bobby has been recognized by his superintendent and other administrative leaders as someone who is inspirational and dedicated to working hard to manage an athletic program of which the school system can be proud.
Bobby excels in the professional ranks as a Certified Master Athletic Administrator and is a National Certified NFHS instructor. He is active in his membership with the NC Coaches Association, NC Athletic Directors Association and the National Federation of High Schools.
He has been a Regional Award recipient for the NC Athletic Directors Association and selected as coach of the year in track (4 times) and is an 8-time Five County conference coach of the year.
