NFHS Coaches Education Course
Presenters: Coach Bobbie Guthrie, CMAA, Wake County Public Schools and Coach Roy Turner, CMAA, New Hanover County Schools.
The fundamentals of coaching course provides a unique student-centered curriculum for interscholastic teachers/coaches, assisting them in creating a healthy and age appropriate athletic experience that supports the educational mission of our nations schools. This will be a blended course with the first three and a half hours of face to face instruction offered on the ECU campus and the additional four hours of instruction will be provided online. This course follows the National Standards for Athletic Coaches and the Level II National Council for the Accreditation of Coaching Education (NCACE) guidelines.

NIAAA Leadership Training
LTC 501 Athletic Administration: Philosophy, Leadership Organizations and Professional Programs
Presenters: Fred McDaniel, CAA, Cumberland County Schools and Bobby Hill, CAA, Hillside High School
This flagship course of Leadership Training serves as an overview for the interscholastic athletic administration.. This course focuses on the roles of the NFHS, the NIAAA, the State Athletic/Activity Associations, and the State Athletic Administrators Associations. The course also previews the NIAAA Certification Program and the NIAAA Leadership Training Program. It is a prerequisite for all levels of certification and includes study materials for the CAA Certification Examination.
Enrollees who will derive greatest benefit: Administrators with minimal information concerning national and state associations who are interested n beginning the process of certification.
Required for: RAA, CAA and CMAA Certification
LTC 502 Athletic Administration: Principles, Strategies and Methods
Presenters: Rusty Lee, CAA, Page High School and Chris Roehner, South Brunswick High School
The course will take a basic approach to the fundamentals and methods of athletic administration and will alert and educate athletic administrators regarding potential problems and possible solutions in areas such as budgets, transportation, and scheduling and parent/student/coach conflicts. The course will also touch upon sample athletic/activity program philosophies, department organizational charts, activity procedures/checklist, public relations, coaching applications/assessments and emergency plans.
Enrollees who will derive greatest benefit: Inexperienced athletic administrators seeking to define and improve their operational procedures
Required for: RAA, CAA and CMAA Certification
CEU & CERTIFICATION INFORMATION
The Coaches Education Course begins the process toward National Coaching Certification.
A 2.5 hour online course will be available to all participants completing the face to face NFHS Coaches Education Course at ECU. A certificate of completion for 0.5 CEUs will be issued to participants who complete both the face to face and online components of the course. Participants should seek approval of CEU acceptance from his/her school district prior to attending the training. After completion of the online and face to face training, participants will earn: NFHS Certificate of Completion which offers:

" Subscription to Coaches Quarterly
